Go RVing Website Promotes “Affordability” Theme
RESTON, Va. – A popular resource for recreation vehicle (RV) shopping, rental and travel planning, the official Go RVing website, GoRVing.com, has been redesigned to incorporate the campaign’s new affordability message points. “Go Affordably. GoRVing.” is prominently placed on the homepage, as are teasers to pages within the site that demonstrate the value of RV travel. The site drew more than 2 million visitors in 2008.
Within the expanded website are sections focusing on alleviating the buying public’s greatest concerns. Findings from the 2008 PFK Vacation Cost Comparison study which shows that RV vacations still remain an economical choice for families – averaging 27 to 61% less than comparable vacation packages even when factoring in ownership costs and high fuel prices. Studies conducted by the Travel Industry Association (TIA) showing the physical and emotional health benefits of regularly planned vacations are also highlighted, linking to the added benefits of stress-free RV vacations.
In response to widespread beliefs that the credit crunch is adversely impacting the national economy, the site includes prominent information assuring prospective buyers that financing remains readily available for well-qualified borrowers looking to purchase the RV of their dreams.
From the homepage, visitors can also link directly to “You Are Here” the Go RVing family travel blog by well-know travel author and RVIA spokesperson, Brad Herzog; and “Hit the Road,” Go RVing’s own interactive game which allows players to virtually travel across the country by RV to some of the most interesting, educational and quirky destinations in each state.
Last year, GoRVing.com was updated to include the first-time buyers video in a streaming video format, allowing site visitors to download the information to their computer immediately instead of waiting for the DVD or CD to be mailed to their home address.
Tailored to the needs of first-time buyers and renters, the Go RVing site also offers:
• Definitions, descriptions and price ranges for all RV types: folding camping trailers, truck campers, conventional travel trailers, fifth-wheel travel trailers, travel trailers with expandable sleeping areas, sport utility RVs, and Type A, B and C motorhomes. • RV shopping tips including retail show schedules, dealer locations, financing and insurance options, best matches for tow vehicles and information on the pre-owned market. • Information on how and where to rent an RV. • Suggested RV travel destinations including campground listings and vacation planning suggestions. • Tips on driving and towing RVs. • Preview clips and online order forms for the free “getting-started” CD-ROM or DVD for first-time users. • An archive of the Go RVing e-newsletters since 2005. • The Industry-Only section filled with tools for dealers and campgrounds to create tie-in marketing materials, access the photo library and download consumer leads information. • A media section featuring news and information about the Go RVing campaign.
The Go RVing website also offers a searchable database of 3,000 RV dealers and 650 campgrounds – all have pledged to provide special attention to first-time buyers.
The Go RVing Coalition, formed in 1994, consists of RV manufacturers, component suppliers, dealers and campgrounds. Go RVing works to provide the public and media with pertinent information about the benefits of RV travel and to foster customer satisfaction with the RV experience through customer research conducted by its Committee on Excellence.
